Damascus: Copper Founders

Date: c.1890-1906

Arabic: sakkāb

Copper alloy vessels were cast by the founder. The objects such as bells, mortars were cast in boxes filled with sand (raml), allowing for many items to be made using a single mould. See also: Maker of mortars (hawāwīnī).
