Aleppo: Lace Makers

Aleppo was the main centre for lace-making, with much of this work being done by Armenian women refugees. 91 kg of lace was exported from Syria in 1933. This represented a significant decline on previous years (1929 = 19,721; 1930 = 8,391; 1931 = 2,126; 1932 = 540). See also: Cotton Spinner; Cotton Weaver; Wool Weaver.
